Sleeping swallowed-tailed gull, Genovesa Island - Galápagos
At night, swallowed-tailed gulls fly out to feed and as such, certainly deserve a good rest during the day.
I very quietly approached one of the gulls at Darwin Bay on Genovesa Island, to get a close-up shot of the eye.
As I was only a few meters away and to my surprise, the bird did not fly away, but simply half-opened its eyes to glance at the visitor.
I took the picture, just in time, as the gull closed its eyes again and returned to its nap.
